Late Late in 2015 1900 Point Late War Shootout!

In doing some prep for a past tournament, Dennis and I had a game a few months ago. Well the footage has been FOUND and the result is a better late than never video of a Flames of War game we had at my place.
Hope you enjoy the game and the footage! Stay tuned, we'll have some more on FoW, Napoleonics and there will be a new game unboxing and pictures of some the Beyond the Gates of Antaraes a few of us have gotten into!

"I will read 500 posts, and I will read 500 more.."

500 posts man.  Wow.   What have I been up to?   I did a painting blitz (pun intended) on my DAK, now that we have a MW tournament coming up in Petawawa in April.  5 weeks away <gulp>

Here is some pics of what I am working on:

World of Not Painting and FnF

With some well deserved time off of work, I have been busy painting, reading, and trying to get some things done around the house. With the arrival of my parents from the east coast of Canada, I need to get this all out of the way and finished so I can make my way to Historicon relatively 'guilt' free.
Having time off and having friends living close to downtown, it's easy to get a game in at Boutique FDB's (Freres de Bataille) new store. Obviously with the french name, it's a short trip over the bridge into Gatineau Quebec, where they recently moved into their newer, brighter and roomier space. Dennis and myself were eager to trial our Historicon lists and generally talk about our other passion at the moment, World of Not Painting, also known as World of Tanks to everyone else in the Flames of War, or PC gaming community. If you're not a PC gamer, the Xbox 360 will soon have it as well, I know the July 4th weekend was the BETA for the game and so far has had great reviews. The game however will be hosted on a separate server, so right now Xbox vs. PC for World of Tanks is a no go for Wargaming.net

Puma's do WHAT?! FoW AAR 39

So, another Friday Night Fights, at Brett's "Basement of Doom" where I play my 21 Panzer's vs Clockwerks' Gepanzerte's. His order of 3 x Puma's didn;t show up so he had to proxy 3 Morris Quads from his Desert Rats army.

This became a typical phrase on our game: "Wait, Puma's do what?!" (make 6+ saves vs Howitzer fire all night long)

Note last 5 minutes is our general after-action banter and discussion.

Friday Night Fights AAR 38

Brent, aka Tickron, decided to give this thing we call Flames of War a try after playing a tonne of World of Tanks as Russians. Brett aka Pripyat, helps him out vs my 21 Panzer list from the previous post. Here is his first tank, a Zvezda plastic T-26. The color scheme is good, I like the weathering effect of it.. just needs red stars

They ran:
10 T34s, half were '85mm guns
Full Strelkovy (Confident Trained)
Slightly smaller Strelkovy (CT)
Sappers
ZiS-3 battery
5 T-70s

I had:
Command Panzerfausts in halftracks
2 units of full Gepanzertes in Halftracks, with Panzerfaust and 2.7 cm gun upgrades
3 Lorraine L37 15cm Howitzers plus halftrack upgrade
3 Panzerwerfers with Extra Crew
2 '88 Guns with extra crew
Panzer VIB aka KingTiger

Flammen auf Mittagsmahlzeit (Flames of Lunch)

(the above is for inspirational music as you read the post.. something German for you guys..

Ive been busy with Flames of lunch the last few weeks.. Ill let the pics do the talking

25 August, 2011

21 Panzer Grenadiers done, with funky camo.

(above) the whole unit, done thanks to Flames of Lunch, where I use my stupid hour lounch at work wisely and paint at my cubicle. 4 x U304(f) Halftracks and a full unit of Gepanzerte Panzer Grenadiers. The tan helmets is because they are veterans of North Africa. The weird camo scheme is actually how they were painted, not like the studio painted them in Earth & Steel. Haven't put markings on the halftracks yet since I don;t know how I'm going to highlight/weather them yet.

Next up afterwards: 6 Tigers, 4 StuG 39H's (PaK40 on a Hotchkiss) and 4 Tiger II's

Late War Escalation starts!! AAR 37

(above) Awesome Bocage board by Shawn TerrainGuy Morris.. thanks man, eternal thanks for this board!

So, after a tonne of months playing Mid War, and we finish off with the Skirmish FoW tourney (Ottawa's first FoW tournament), we dive right in to Late War, and as usual we are going to run an Escalation League. In the Video, we started with our old point limit of 600 for tier 1, 1000 for tier 2 and 1500 for tier 3, but the OMG guys are running a LW tourney in October, so we have decided to ramp it up to 750, then 1500.

Below are some shots of Marty 'Joyous Oblivion''s Stuart list vs Ca$h's Cromwell/Challenger list. In the video, as a bit of everything.

Afterwards, we decided to play 2 v 2 with 750 point lists. I asked if we HAD to take 2 combat platoons, or if we could go with just one given that its 750 points. Ca$h said one is fine, so I took an HQ Tiger II and a troop Tiger II. They killed off 4 cromwells, a challenger and 3 ISU-122's. Hells Yeah!

Late War 21 Panzer WIP

Well, with 8 months of Mid War madness behind us, and Skirmish is in the books, it is time to think to Late War. We are going to be doing another escalation league of some sort, whether it is Infantry Aces or just plain Escalation so people can do whatever, we don;t know, but I have been busy. Above is a tonne of resin before going in the warm water/dish soap bath to get rid of the mold release.

6 PzIV and 7 StuG 39H assault guns, drying.

French halftracks, enough to do Gepanzerte HQ and 2 full units of GPGren's.. not shown: the infantry, that is at work for Flames of Lunch, Season 2

Some toys: an 88 battery, plus 3 french SOMUA Panzerwerfers.

My first 600 points looks like:
Command HQ GPGrenadiers, 2 x panzerfausts 80pts
Gepanzerte PanzerGrenadiers, 3 sections, Panzer Fausts: 225 pts
Gepanzerte PanzerGrenadiers, 3 sections, Panzer Fausts: 225 pts
2 Raketen VielfachWerfers (the SOMUA things), 65 points

595 pts.

A "small" diversion...

BATTLTECH! This was my first miniature game. As I mentioned in my last post, Battletech holds a dear place in my hobby heart. I remember do...
