Feast your eyes upon this board :
This marks the christening of Bretislava. Lothlann and Pripyat played breakthrough on this marvelous board this week as part of our Tier 3 Escalation league. I (CA$H) was on hand as War Correspondent and recoded all the action.

Friday Night Fights 1000 pts Total war! GUEST POST
Total War!!!
This FNF's was the Total war game at the end of our 1000 pts tier for the Table Top Tacticians and it was an epic fight. There was 4000 pts on each side with 7 people playing with 3 Allies players playing 2 Russian armoured Battalions (Lothlann), 1 Russian Infantry Battalion (Pripyat) and 1 US Para Company (Joyous_Oblivion) against 4 German players playing Infantry (Ca$h), Armoured Infantry (Ripsey), and 2 Panzers Companies (Diragi and myself, Big Willie). We were playing Encounter with 2 defensive objectives and one offensive spread out over two 6 x 4 foot tables. To speed the game up we decided to have each 1000 pt army deploy half their platoons and each 1000 pt army would roll for it's own reserves. After talking with WWPD and learning how terrain is treated for Nationals we decided to adjust our playing to get us better prepared in the event we get the chance to play in those types of tournaments. We played from around 7 pm to 1 am and then called it. There was a lot going on in the game and a very large table so there are likely holes in the coverage, so for the guys who were there sort me out.
WARNING - LOADS OF AWESOME PICS!

League Update
Hi all,
I have updated the Escalation League page to reflect the battles from last nights FNF. Videos will be up with full ARR in the next 24hrs or so. Here is where the points stand heading into next weeks Tier 2 Total War game:
The points lead can swing quickly with the results of the Total War, and with the final Tier 3 (1500 points) games. Stay tuned for more info on the Total War game and the Tier 3 regs!
Expect next week's Total War to be epic - each player fielding his 1000 point force - we are hoping for 4k per side on 4'x12' awesomeness!

Tier 2 Update
Our Mid War Escalation League got underway this weekend with FNF taking place at Pripyat's place. A total of 5 Games were played, and some new force lists kept people on their toes. Here is a summary of the wins/losses:
Hats off to Drew for winning both of his opening games! His new Stuka's were definitely the stars of his games - taking home multiple tank kills. We only had one camera there, so coverage suffered - an issue we will not have again with more people bringing cameras to cover all the action. More games are planned for this week's FNF, so stay tuned for more!

Flames of War Escalation league
The Drunken Gamers of Ottawa are starting a Flames of War Escalation league!
With Flames of War picking up steam, all of us busily working away on terrain/armies, and more people showing interest every week. This is a GREAT time to start one!
Some of my inspiration comes from HERE
We will start out small, say 600 points, 1 HQ and 1 combat platoon minimum, and grow from there. This will encourage painting (which we are all pretty good at already) for newer players, and make all our games look awesome with always playing with painted stuff. It will also encourage small, faster, simpler games for use to really learn the nuances of the rules and tactics of this awesome game. It also allows us to keep playing regularly, and not burn out on trying to get loads done asap. Again, we can even encourage people to bring new players to test it out, knowing that games will be smaller and easier to "demo" weekly if needed.
I'm thinking we will have 3 stages, each of 4 weeks starting with 600 points, then 1000, then 1500. That gives people a month to paint roughly 500 point blocks of models, so we can work on other things (if we want) and still progress.
We can also be setting certain pre-determined scenarios for each point bracket, so as to ease the list building and make the games link together like a campaign. Each player will have to play as many different opponents as possible. I would also like to cap it off with a round robin tourney over the course of a Sat or Sun and the end!
I'm looking to kick things off in the next week or two so stay tuned to this space (keyword "Escalation League") to see people's progress and lists!
Cheers,

A "small" diversion...
BATTLTECH! This was my first miniature game. As I mentioned in my last post, Battletech holds a dear place in my hobby heart. I remember do...
